Upcoming for Purcell is the role of ‘Gloria,’ in Tyler Perry’s film STRAW, premiering on Netflix June 9, 2025. The formidable ‘Gloria,’ is a mean and no-nonsense landlord who displays a stark lack of empathy for the character of ‘Janiyah’ (Taraji P. Henson) even going as far as to file an eviction notice. This multiple-scene character provided Purcell with the opportunity to showcase her unique take on this biting and unsympathetic woman. Her comedic portrayal during the audition process and on set impressed Tyler Perry, who praised her work on the film.
Purcell is especially proud of her recurring role as ‘Adeline Loggins’ in Women of the Movement (ABC). The six-part series was nominated for an NAACP Image Award in four categories, winning for Outstanding Writing in a Dramatic Series. Her growing list of television credits includes appearances in popular series such as Found (NBC), NCIS-New Orleans (CBS), Johnson (Bounce), Walker (The CW), Atlanta (FX), and The Big Door Prize (Apple TV). She also appeared in the Amazon Prime film The Underdoggs alongside Snoop Dogg and Tika Sumpter. Purcell has taken on leading roles in the TUBI Originals Hot Girl Winter as ‘Tamira’ with Golden Brooks and Twisted House Sitter 2 as ‘Everette Lemon’ with Vivica A. Fox. Demonstrating her versatility, she wrote and directed her own independent films, Two Wrongs and Two Wrongs 2, both available on Prime Video and TUBI. Her additional acting credits include roles in Lifetime’s Switched Before Birth and TV One’s Saints & Sinners Judgement Day.
She has recurred on the highly viewed skitcom dramedy with comedian Kountry Wayne streaming worldwide and has stepped into a new world of stand-up comedy, filming her first comedy special Pop Yo Sh*t coming out in fall 2025.
